HYDERABAD, Jan 3: The Joint Action Committee of Sindh at a condolence meeting held here on Thursday paid rich tribute to Ms Benazir Bhutto for her services to democracy in the country and said that Pakistan, especially Sindh, had suffered irreparable loss in her martyrdom.

It said that the vacuum created by the passing away of Ms Bhutto could never be filled.

The coordinator of the action committee, Zain Daudpoto, presided over the meeting, which was attended by Punhal Sario and Dr Khalil Qazi of Indus Development Organisation, Zulfiqar Shah of South Asia Partnership, Fateh Mari of Actionaid Pakistan, Nasir Panhwar, Mustafa Baloch, Ghaffar Malik, comrade Ramzan Memon and other NGOs’ leaders.

It said that the state and the rulers cannot be absolved of the gruesome murder of Ms Bhutto which had jolted the entire country.

It demanded that the investigation into the ghastly crime should be conducted by the United Nations.

It observed that the reaction in the country following the assassination was in fact the reflection of the peoples’ anger against the excesses of the state organisations as the people considered Ms Bhutto as their saviour.

It said that the disappearance of the entire state machinery during the riots and destruction of valuable government and private properties and the implication of innocent persons in different cases clearly indicated that this conspiracy was hatched by the government.
