KHAIRPUR: Up to 20,000 PPP activists booked

KHAIRPUR, Jan 1: Between 15,000 and 20,000 PPP workers, office-bearers, UC nazims and their family members have been booked in FIRs lodged at different police stations of the district.

This was stated by PPP candidates Sajid Ali Bhambhan (NA-

216), Naeem Kharal (PS-34), Ahmed Raza Shah alias Pyar Ali Shah Jillani (PS-33), and former district nazim Khairpur Nafisa Shah while talking to newsmen here on Tuesday.

They added that key party workers, who were running election campaign for PPP, have also been booked while 300 to 500 PPP workers and their family members have been arrested and subjected to torture at the police stations.

They added that the police have picked up all the male members of families and left behind women in Jan Mohammad Samtio village.

They alleged that armed persons belonging to PML-F were resorting to aerial firing in villages and mohallas, particularly where PPP supporters and workers are residing, including village Mari, Mitho Mari, Kolab Jeeal, Luqman, mill colony and other areas of the district.

They alleged that PML-F supporters and workers along with some armed persons took out a rally in Khairpur from Luqman to civil hospital road on Monday in day light who tore apart PPP flags and banners from various spots and torched them.
