PESHAWAR: JUI-F slams Benazir’s assassination

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 28: The provincial executive council of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F has condemned the assassination of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and asked party’s district leaders to attend condolence meetings.

The council meeting held here on Friday was presided over by Senator Gul Naseeb Khan, says a press release.

It condemned the tragic murder of Ms Bhutto and said that some elements were trying to eliminate national leadership.

The meeting said the government had failed to control acts of violence and terrorism which claimed hundreds of innocent lives in the country.

The council paid tributes to Ms Bhutto and said she was a ‘brave politician’ who struggled for supremacy of the Constitution, fundamental rights of the people and democracy.

The JUI-F expressed sympathies with the Bhutto family and workers of the PPP and asked party activists in all 24 districts to participate in condolence meetings of the PPP.
