Candidates asked to follow election code

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Dec 14: Election authorities on Friday directed district nazim Shahram Khan and two former MPAs of the ANP, Amir Rehman and Mukhtiar Khan, to refrain from violating the code of conduct for the Jan 8 polls.

ANP candidates from PF-31, PF-32 and PF-33 had submitted an application with acting district returning officer Younas Khan, complaining that nazim Shahram Khan had been violating the code of conduct.

They said that the nazim’s role could influence the election.

ANP district information secretary Mohammad Rasheed said that the nazim was told to avoid announcing development schemes which would influence the election.

Mr Shahram said the two former MPAs still had development funds, which they were using to manipulate the election.
