HYDERABAD, Dec 14: A strong attachment to Sindh’s history and desire to preserve its cultural heritage was witnessed in the works of budding artists here at an exhibition.
The Institute of Arts and Design, University of Sindh, organised the exhibition of thesis projects of final year students at the faculty of arts building here on Thursday.
Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui inaugurated the exhibition.
Students displayed their projects developed on different subjects including earthquake, Rani Kot fort, floating, peace, ancient Moen Jo Daro, me and myself, mother and nature, Sindhi Ajrak, wall and table calendars portraying different periods.
Through their works, students highlighted historical places of Hyderabad including Mukhi House, Pakka and Katcha Qilla, tombs of Talpurs, DC House and Old Campus building.
They have also developed paintings of Umer Marui traditions and culture of rural areas.
A project on bangle industry of Hyderabad was developed by students.
The vice-chancellor speaking on the occasion appreciated the laborious works of young artists of the institute. He said the Mukhi House as well as Hyderabad forts and Rani Kot depict our glorious past.
He said the European countries have been spending on promotion and preservation of their heritage and are great lovers of history and spending huge money to protect their past.
Director of the institute, Dr M.A. Bhatti said that the thesis exhibition was a part of art education and added that this year students have developed projects related to history.
