RAWALPINDI, Dec 6: A man committed suicide by setting himself ablaze in his employer’s house at Gulzar-i-Quaid on Thursday, police said.

The police said Mohammad Ramzan, 45, took the step because of the financial problems he was facing.

On seeing the flames from his room, the house-owner and his employer Shaukat Bashir and people from neighbouring houses rushed to his rescue but he was burnt critically when the people and the Rescue-1122 team reached the scene of fire.

However, the rescue team extinguished the fire and removed the charred body and shifted it to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ). The fire also caused damage to the house and created panic among the residents of the area who gathered around the house on fire.

The alleged killers managed to escape from the scene.
