Lawyers strike again

Published December 4, 2007

SHIEKHUPURA, Dec 3: The District Bar Association on Monday observed token strike from 11am to 1pm against the imposition of emergency, promulgation of Provisional Constitution Order and deposition of superior court judges.

Lawyers held a meeting in the bar office and chanted slogans against the government and demanded President General Pervez Musharraf resign from the presidency. Lawyers said detaining of Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan was a shameful act. They demanded that the government release him.

They said they would continue their struggle till the reinstatement of deposed judges, restoration of democracy and rule of law in the country.
