PML launches drive in Qambar

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Dec 3: The Pakistan Muslim League kicked off its election campaign in Qambar-Shahdadkot district on Monday when Sardar Ali Hassan Khan Hakro announced withdrawal of his candidature for NA-206 and PS-39 and support for Sardar Khan Chandio.

The announcement was made in a meeting held at the residence of District Nazim Nawab Shabir Ahmed Chandio and attended by the nazims and naib nazims of various union councils from all over the district.

Sardar Khan and Ali Hasan, both belonging to the PML, had earlier locked horns over the two seats and filed nomination papers against each other.

Former Sindh chief minister and Sindh PML chief Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim recently visited Qambar, held party meetings and persuaded Ali Hasan to withdraw his candidature and support Sardar Khan on both the seats. Speaking at the meeting, Ali Hasan said keeping party discipline in mind, he had accepted the decision made by Dr Rahim.

Sardar Khan criticised the Pakistan People’s Party and said that it was still undecided about its candidates for the seats.

He said that he had served the people of Qambar by making contribution to the efforts for creation of the new district.

KIDNAPPED TRADER: The Larkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at a meeting here on Monday, condemned the kidnapping of trader Deedar Ali Shaikh and gave police two-day deadline for his safe recovery.

The chamber warned that the traders would resort to protest if the kidnapped businessman was not recovered in two days.
