KARACHI, Nov 22: Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Amin struck fine centuries to put Pakistan Under-19s in a commanding position against their Bangladeshi counterparts on the third day of the one-off Test at the National Stadium on Thursday.

Coming together after an early loss, the Shahzad-Umar duo took Pakistan to 214 for no further loss.

They put on 212 for the second wicket, both completing their second hundreds, following centuries against England earlier this year.

They had come together after vice-captain Shan Masood was dismissed without scoring and stuck together for five minutes short of five hours.

Pakistan U-19, ultimately, were bowled out for 328 in their first innings.

The tourists, in their second innings, had reached 58-3 in 25 overs when the stumps were drawn on the third day.

Umar and Ahmed’s performances took the sheen off a fine counterattack by the tourists earlier in the day, led by Rony Talukder. They had begun the day on 273-7, with Talukder unbeaten on 52. He took over the tail this morning, more than doubling his personal score and scoring the vast majority of his side’s runs. His innings was his first hundred at this level.

Mohammad Rameez finished with four wickets.
