LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 18: Khewndo Kore, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with the Plan Pakistan organised a workshop on child rights and importance of birth registration for students of state-run high and higher secondary schools in the town hall on Sunday.

Students of the GHSS Abakhel, GHS Wanda Amir and GHS Abakhel who are also members of the District Child Forum (DCF) attended the workshop.

Trainer Advocate Nasir Ali Qurashi, Community Facilitator Javed Ahmad Wazir and DCF’s District Focal Person Yaseen Khan delivered lectures.

They informed the students about child rights and international treaties the world nations had signed to protest and secure the rights of children as well as to provide them with free health, education and other facilities.

Highlighting the importance of birth registration, they said it was first step towards development. “Birth registration enables a government to chalk out strategies and formulate policies for the well-being and welfare of children”, they said.

The speakers called upon the participants to play their role in ensuring cent percent birth registration in their respective localities.

They said that such workshops and seminars would also be held in future to convey the message regarding ‘importance of birth registration and child right’ to the community.
