Women’s volleyball starts

ISLAMABAD, Nov 12: The seventh National Women’s Volleyball Championship commenced at the Rodham Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Monday. In matches played on the opening day, Punjab beat HEC 25-20, 25-15, Wapda trounced Fata 25-1, 25-8, NWFP overcame AJK 25-19, 25-23, Sindh overpowered Fata 25-12, 25-15 and the HEC outplayed NWFP 25-5, 25-11.

Eight teams are participating in the four-day championship. The teams have been divided into two groups.

Group ‘A’ consists of Wapda, Islamabad, Fata and Sindh whereas Group ‘B’ comprises the HEC, Punjab, NWFP and AJK.

Tuesday’s fixtures:

Islamabad v Sindh; Punjab v AJK; Wapda v Sindh; HEC v AJK; Islamabad v Fata; Punjab v NWFP.—Agencies
