Noor excels on opening day

KARACHI, Nov 3: Teenaged Noorur Rehman excelled on the opening day of 17th Talent Hunt Sindh Ranking tennis championship when he cleared first hurdle in boys U-15 and U-13 singles in contrasting style at the CDGK Sports Complex on Saturday.

Rehman cruised into boys U-15 singles second round when he overcame Saad Yousuf 7-6, 6-1 while his victim in boys U-13 singles opener was Aamir Ali who lost straight 0-6, 0-6. Meanwhile, the top seeds in men’s, juniors, boys U-15 and U-13 singles have got a bye in the first round.

Boys U-15 singles (first round): Mustafa Tariq bt Zain Suhail 6-0, 6-2; Uzair A. Qadir bt Faraz Ahmed 6-1, 6-4; Adil Kohari bt Ahsan Nadeem 6-1, 6-1; Shahbaz Khan bt Basit Gabol 6-4, 6-0; Rehmat Ali bt Yayha Essa 6-1, 6-2; Adil Tanoli w/o Hamza Taimoor ; Noorur Rehman bt Saad Yousuf 7-6, 6-1; Omer Usman w/o M. Boys U-13 singles (first round): Shayan Nadeem bt Saad Pervez 6-3, 6-2; Talha Zubair bt Sheryar Ahmed 6-3, 6-3; Noorur Rehman bt Aamir Ali 6-0, 6-0; Fraz Ahmed Faiz bt M. Aqeel 7-5, 6-3.

Juniors U-17 singles (first round): Azher Qureshi bt Sikander Hayat 6-4, 6-3.
