PESHAWAR, Nov 3: The NWFP government has promoted Mohammad Khalid Khan Umarzai, PCS (Executive Group), from BPS-19 to BPS-20 on a regular basis with effect from June 4, 2007.
A notification issued by the government on Saturday said the officer on promotion would remain on probation for one year in accordance with Section 6(2) of the NWFP Civil Servants Act, 1973, read with Rule-15(1) of the NWFP Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion and Transfer) Rules, 1989. His posting/transfer orders would be issued later.
Mr Umarzai was made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) by former chief minister Akram Khan Durrani last year, when he reportedly developed differences with his elder brother, who is also a federal government servant.
Caretaker Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk, however, on a summary of the Establishment Department seeking approval for promotion of Mr Umarzai said: “I don’t think I have ever met Mr Khalid Khan, but if it were to happen now, I would offer him my apologies on behalf of the provincial government for what was done to him without any reason.”
