HYDERABAD, Nov 3: A businessman has accused the Matiari Police of delaying investigation into kidnapping of his brother, Munir Ahmed. He said that he was being issued threats of dire consequences if the case was not withdrawn.
Speaking at the press club on Saturday, Ghulam Juman Memon s/o Mohammad Juman Memon suspected two members of Memon community, an ASI, police constable of Matiari Police Station, and their accomplices of kidnapping his brother on Sept 18 from his shop in Pirzada Mohalla Matiari.
Ransom of Rs900,000 was asked for his release he said adding that he had submitted an application the District and Session Judge, Hyderabad who directed the Civil Judge Hala to conduct raids for the release of Munir Ahmed.
He said the Civil Judge raided Matiari Police Station and also a police check post but Munir Ahmed could not be found. The Civil Judge, on Sept 20 raided a bungalow in Goth Soomar Chand and recovered Munir Ahmed but the accused managed to flee, he added. The learned judge, he said, made an entry of the recovery of Munir Ahmed at the Police Station.
Ghulam Memon said they again approached the District and Sessions Judge Hyderabad who ordered registration of an FIR at the Matiari Police Station. He said the accused managed to get bail which was cancelled by the learned district judge.However, police disposed of the case as “c-class” but the learned judge rejected it and ordered re-inquiry, he said.
He complained that the inquiry was being delayed and he was being threatened with dire consequences by the accused. He appealed for justice.
AERIAL FIRING: District Nazim Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil has directed the DPO to take stringent measures for ending practice of aerial firing during marriage ceremonies.
The District Nazim directed the DPO through communication to ensure FIRs were registered against people who resort to such practice. He further sought names of such people to the Secretariat for cancellation of their arms licenses.
