Parties’ help sought for securing peace


PESHAWAR, Oct 26: NWFP caretaker Home Minister Shahzada Gastasip Khan has urged all political parties and their leaders to support the government in restoring peace in the province.

He said peace was necessary for development in the province.

Talking to leaders of various political parties who called on him at his office here on Friday, he said that restoration of peace in the region, holding of free, fair and transparent elections and provision of amenities to the masses were top priorities of the caretaker government, adding that all political leaders were being contacted to achieve these goals.

Those who called on him included former speaker of the provincial assembly Bakht Jehan Khan, former deputy speaker Ikramullah Shahid and former MPAs Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat, Dr. Zakir Shah and Pir Mohammad Khan.

They discussed the prevailing law and order situation in the province and assured him of their full support.

The home minister said that safeguarding people’s life and property was the prime responsibility of any government and their government would take all possible measures to remove the sense of insecurity from the peoples’ mind. —APP
