KARACHI, Oct 23: The Pakistan People’s Party has alleged that police personnel in some 12 mobile vans raided the residence of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, a key member of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s security team in Defence on Monday night.
Earlier in the day also, policemen in three mobiles blocked the main gate of his residence.
His wife, MNA Dr Fahmida Mirza, told Dawn that the policemen were harassing her children and servants to seek information about her husband’s whereabouts. Dr Fahmida, who is also the PPP’s provincial information secretary, said she had complained to the authorities concerned about the matter but they seemed under intense pressure from the chief minister to do the needful.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has condemned the harassment of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, and warned that such attempts were being made by the elements who might be involved in the bomb attack on PPP rally on Oct 18.
