Abduction FIR quashed

LAHORE, Oct 9: Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday quashed an FIR against the marriage of a Christian man and a ‘Muslim woman’ when the former denied the charges of abduction of the latter through a petition.

The court ordered it after hearing the girl who said she was never abducted and was living happily with her husband Imran Masih. Petitioner Imran Masih, a resident of Islamabad, sought the FIR lodged by woman’s father Muhammad Sadiq to be quashed.

Lodging the FIR at Defence police station, Sadiq said Imran, along with four other men, abducted his daughter Nazia Rukhsana.

He said he had married Razia, aunt of Imran Masih, some 20 years ago and converted her to Islam. “Imran and his relatives have abducted my daughter to exact revenge of what happened 20 years ago,” he said.

“I am 19 and I was not abducted or lured by any person. I married Imran on May 15, 2006,” Rukhsana stated in court while producing the copy of her marriage certificate. Rukhsana said she was a Christian and not a Muslim and had married a Christian man. —Reporter
