Players warned against using bats with wide blades

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, Oct 7: Umpires who will supervise the second Test between Pakistan and South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium from Monday have warned both the teams not to use cricket bats having extra width.

The warning was issued when the umpires, during inspection, found some bats of both the teams with wide blades compared with the standard size of almost four and quarter inches.

According to rules, umpires can examine the bat of any player during the match.

The rules also allow the match-referee to take action against the player involved in the malpractice and impose a ban of some matches against him.
