Members seek dist council session

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, Oct 3: PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel members of the district council have expressed concern over the convener’s failure to convene a session of the council and decided to move the Sindh High Court in this regard.

Talking to journalists here on Wednesday, a union council nazim, Abdul Qayoom Shaikh, and other ADP nazims and members of the council said that on September 26, they submitted a requisition signed by about 18 members to summon a council session. However, they said, despite lapse of one week, no progress had been made for summoning the session. They said that if the session was not called in a week, they would again move the court.

They said that in the proposed session, they wanted to know about the steps taken for implementation of an order passed by the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, on a petition filed by some council members.

They said that in the petition 20 ADP members of the council had stated that development schemes proposed by them had not been approved by the council.

Bakhat Ali Dahot, Ghazala Siyal, Masood Nabi Dogar, Faqir Sher Ali and others were present on the occasion.

UTP ATTACKED: An under-trial prisoner facing a murder case was attacked on court premises in Pir-jo-Goth on Wednesday.

A man, Mian Chandio, opened fire with the intention to kill him but he remained unhurt.

The attacker also opened fire on the police and fled from the scene.
