ISLAMABAD, Sept 18: The leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-N on Tuesday admitted that it had failed to mobilise party workers and the general public to accord a warm welcome to its leader Nawaz Sharif upon his arrival, and apologised to him for the Sept 10 fiasco.
“Our strategy proved unsuccessful and we feel ashamed before Nawaz Sharif,” said PML-N acting president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi at a news conference. He was accompanied by party secretary-general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and information secretary Ahsan Iqbal.
Mr Hashmi admitted that there was lack of coordination among the leaders of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) and they failed to implement their plan.
