HUNZA, Sept 16: A 15-member expedition team comprising local women scaled the Kuksil peak-II in Gojal, upper Hunza, on the Pakistan-China border, said a press release issued here on Sunday.

The first all-women team from Pakistan, which had embarked on the expedition on Sept 2, reached the summit of the 6483m Kuksil on Sept 9.

The team was trained and guided by two famous climbers from Shimshal — Rajab Shah and Mehrban Shah. The expedition was organised by the Ismaili Regional Council for Hunza as part of its celebrations on the 49th anniversary of the enthronement of Prince Karim Aga Khan as spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims.
