GUJRANWALA, Sept 12: Three people, including a constable and two women, were gunned down and a motorcycle-rickshaw driver was injured in and around the city on Wednesday.

Reports said that accused Shahnawaz, Amir and others shot dead constable Mushtaq Ahmed when he was on his way to the city by a motorcycle-rickshaw from Beddoki Gasian village. Driver Aslam also sustained injuries. The killing was the outcome of an old rivalry.

In another incident, bandits hanged to death a widow on resistance during a dacoity in Gurjakh.

Rasoolan Bibi, 60, was alone when armed bandits entered her house, collected Rs50,000 in cash and 20 tolas of gold and hanged her when she tried to resist. Her only son, Samad Butt, was also shot dead some four years back.

In Rakh Kikranwal, two brothers, Akbar and Asghar, hanged to death their sister, Shahida Bibi, on suspicion of having loose morals.

The Cantonment, Garjakh and Ferozewala police have registered separate cases and are investigating.

Suicide: A boy and a girl allegedly committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills in Momanabad on Wednesday.

Adis, 18, and Nabila, 17, liked each other and wanted to marry but their parents were not ready for that owing to difference in caste. In a fit of disappointment, they swallowed poisonous pills and died. Baghbanpura police handed over bodies to their heirs.
