LAHORE, Sept 3: Model Town Club (MTC) and Faisalabad Yellows qualified for the semi-finals of the 19th national under-18 football championship after defeating their respective opponents here on Monday.

Two goals from England-based Irfan Khan, helped Model Town Club defeat the Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad (PMCF) 2-1 in the first quarter-final.

PMCF took the lead first when their fast-moving striker Ali Yasir banged home with a low drive in the 16th minute.

MTC levelled in the 36th minute through.

In the second half, both teams played defensively. But Irfan struck in the in the 89th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

A solitary goal by Mohammad Irfan in the extra time helped Faisalabad Yellow beat NWFP 1-0 in the second quarter-final.

After the match remained goalless in the first two sessions, Irfan managed to hit the match-winner in the 120th minute.

The remaining two quarter-finals were being played under lights. Afghan Club were playing Pak Friends while Karachi were taking on Faisalabad Whites.
