ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement called on Pakistan Muslim League president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain at his residence here on Saturday and discussed with him issues relating to the president’s re-election and the government-PPP dialogue.

Mr Hussain assured MQM’s deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar and Rabita Committee member Shoaib Bokhari that the government would take all decisions by taking coalition partners into confidence and in accordance with the law and the Constitution.

The MQM leaders said the party would continue to support President Pervez Musharraf but a final decision on his re-election in uniform would be taken by the party’s central leadership.

The PML chief was also supposed to meet MMA secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rahman, but it could not be confirmed if the two had met.
