Two FC men killed

By Our Correspondent

MINGORA, Aug 31: Two soldiers of the Frontier Constabulary and a civilian were killed and eight people suffered injuries in two attacks here on Friday.

FC personnel and police stationed at the Pakistan-Australia Institute for Hotel Management came under attack in Guli Bagh area early on Friday morning. An exchange of fire between law-enforcement personnel and the militants continued for around two hours. The paramilitary soldiers, Noor Bahadur and Waheed Nawaz, both hailing from Charssada, were killed and six personnel were injured.

Tents of the security forces located in the institute also caught fire in the incident, witnesses said.

Official sources said that a police patrol rushed to the area and hit an improvised explosive device on Langar Road. A civilian, Hazrat Ali of Khwazakhela, who had been apprehended for timber smuggling and was in the police van, was killed in the blast while two policemen suffered injuries. The injured were rushed to the Saidu hospital.

On Thursday night, militants destroyed a plaque that had been put up recently on a bridge in Takhtaband in memory of three policemen killed in a suicide attack on July 12. The ‘Taj Malook Shaheed Bridge’ had been named after a slain head constable.
