PESHAWAR, Aug 30: The Awami National Party has welcomed the proposed return of Sharif brothers, adding that the Supreme Court judgment allowing their return had taken the PML-Q and President Gen Pervez Musharraf by surprise.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, ANP’s acting president Ghulam Ahmad Bilour congratulated the Sharifs and said the eight-year military rule had caused unemployment, law and order problems and price hike.

He said: “If a president does not respect his country’s laws, how could we expect a common man to do so?”

He blamed the policies of the government for the recent acts of terrorism in Fata.
