DADU, Aug 29: The Dadu District Council in a resolution adopted on Wednesday criticised BISE, Hyderabad, for replacing on its papers a monogram in Sindhi with one in Urdu.

Ghulam Qadir moved the resolution urging the Sindh governor and the chief minister to take notice of the matter and restore the Sindhi monogram.

The session was presided over by District Naib Nazim Syed Mohammad Shah.

In his resolution, Ali Sher Leghari said six people had died in the Pat Gul Mohammad union council and its surrounding areas during recent floods, but the government had not paid any compensation to heirs of victims. He said the affected people had not received relief goods.

The EDO, revenue, Sajjad Ahmed Abbasi, told the council that officials of the department with the help of the army and union council nazims had distributed relief goods among flood-affected people. He said Rs111.5 million had been distributed among 7,000 victims.

The district nazim said the relief goods had been distributed after a survey by revenue officials and verification of victims’ lists by him. He said many union council nazims had brought lists of six to seven hundred people whose houses had not been damaged.

Pir Gambal Shah called for action against officers of the district government for not attending council sessions. The naib nazim said notices had been issued to officers of departments who did not attend the sessions.
