PESHAWAR, Aug 25: A meeting held under the chairmanship of NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai here on Saturday reviewed a proposal regarding upgradation of Islamia College Peshawar.

The meeting held in the governor’s house decided to preserve historic buildings of the college, said a handout issued after the meeting.

The meeting was informed that the provincial assembly had already passed a resolution regarding the upgradation of the college to the university level and now all aspects of the proposal had to be studied before its implementation.

The meeting was attended by Secretary to Governor Azmat Hanif and Higher Education secretary Tariq Jamil, Peshawar University vice-chancellor Prof Haroon-ur-Rasheed, college principal Dr Nissar Mohammad Nissar and renowned students of the college, including an ex-chief secretary of the province, Mohammad Azam Khan.
