KARACHI: Factory-owner’s remand extended

By A Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 13: The judicial magistrate-12, Central, Abdul Zahoor Chandio, on Monday extended the judicial remand of Akhtar Hussain Baloch, owner of a towel-dyeing and bleaching factory where nine men were killed and 25 others injured when a boiler exploded on July 24.

Earlier, on Aug 9 the court directed the police to submit a complete charge-sheet within three days, but it could not be submitted till Aug 13.

The court fixed Aug 28 for the next hearing and directed the investigation officer to submit the complete charge-sheet in the case.

The investigation officer concerned, Ilyas, told Dawn that medical reports and findings of an industrial inspection team were yet to be provided by the officials, which was delaying the submission of the charge-sheet.

A court source said the bail application of the accused, which was submitted to the court of district and sessions judge, Central, Nisar Ahmed Shaikh, on Aug 6, could not be put up for consideration before the submission of the charge-sheet.
