NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 11: Leaders of political parties, civil society and elected representatives on Friday blamed the tribal chiefs and the government responsible for escalating tribal wars.

They said at a seminar on “tribal disputes in Sindh and the role of political, social, educational organisations” at the press club that the lack of political awareness among people had helped escalate the bloody disputes and urged all the organisations to work effectively for creating awareness.

Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS) Joint Secretary Mushtaq Phull and Mashooq Dharejo held the state responsible for tribal disputes and said it had allowed feudal lords to do politics over tribal disputes and at times condoned their orchestrating the disputes themselves.

Jeay Sindh Mahaz General Secretary Mohammad Hashim Khoso said that tribal disputes had become chronic disease for Sindh and the state machinery was being used to promote them. The chieftains were the main characters in complicating and promoting the feuds, he said.

A writer, Abdullah Shad Jalbani, said that tribal disputes had badly damaged the economy of the province.

Nazim of union council Phull, Mohammad Hayat Phull, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam district secretary, Maulana Abdul Rehman, Mazhar Khaskheli, Qasim Isran, Manzoor Ujjan, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Memon and Syed Ghous Ali Shah also spoke at the seminar, which was organised by SAS.
