PESHAWAR, Aug 10: The government has approved over Rs10.943 billion for various development projects in the tribal areas. Out of this, Rs466.439 million will be spent during the fiscal year 2007-08.
According to the Fata Medical Cell, the development of backward and far-flung areas of tribal region would get top priority under the package for regional development.
An amount of Rs838.93 million has been sanctioned for seven development projects in North and South Waziristan agencies.
A total of Rs678.94 million has been approved for five development schemes in the South Waziristan Agency.
Out of this amount, Rs144.155 million will be spent in the Shawal area, Rs93.318 million in Shaktoi and Shobi Khel areas of Ladha tehsil, Rs65.645 million in the Shakai area, Rs180.774 million in Toi Khullah tehsil and Rs195.048 million in Mantoi and Santoi areas.
An amount of Rs159.980 million has been approved for two schemes in the North Waziristan Agency.
These include an allocation of Rs99.980 million for the Madakhel area and Rs60 million for the Shawal area.
A package of Rs118.059 million has been approved for development plans in Tirah Valley and Bara in the Khyber Agency.
Four development schemes in the Mohmand Agency, four in the Kurram agency, three in Orakzai and 27 projects in all Fata areas have also been approved.—APP
