ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: Former prime ministers Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday rallied support for General Pervez Musharraf’s re-election as president, as efforts continued to bring Jamali back into the PML fold.

Both the leaders, who had developed serious differences leading to Jamali’s resignation from the party, were together flanking Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at a luncheon hosted by Health Minister Naseer Khan.

Informed sources said the two leaders talked to each other and discussed political situation prevailing in the country.

It was for the first time after Jamali’s resignation from the party and hostile statements by him against Chaudhry Shujaat and vice versa that the two leaders got a chance to get together.

Jamali had recently said the era of Chaudhry brothers was over and had talked about unified Muslim League. Chaudhry Shujaat had reacted to it by saying that the assertions by Jamali were insignificant as he was no more with the PML.
