LAHORE, July 23: Punjab People’s Party Secretary-General Ghulam Abbas, former party MPAs Abdul Qadir Shaheen and Dr Ziaullah Bangash and other leaders said on Monday that Benazir Bhutto was likely to land in Lahore on her return to the country.

“The PPP workers have already started preparing for according their leader a rousing welcome. This will be a reception even bigger than Ms Bhutto got at Lahore airport on April 10, 1986,” they said in a joint press statement.

They said Ms Bhutto’s homecoming would further accelerate the party’s democratic struggle because the PPP leadership firmly believed in ridding the people of military regime and restoring genuine democracy in the country where the Constitution should be supreme.
