MULTAN, July 20: Lawyers and politicians celebrated the reinstatement of suspended Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and setting aside of the presidential reference against him here on Friday.
Lawyers and leaders of political parties distributed sweets and performed “Bhangra” on the premises of district and high court bars.
DBA president Muhammad Akram Bhatti described the decision as historic. He said that lawyers would not allow President Pervez Musharraf to re-elect him from present assemblies.
TOBA TEK SINGH: Lawyers took out a rally, fired crackers in Shuhada Chowk on Jhang Road and marched through Sadar Bazaar where they held a public meeting.
MMA district secretary-general Mian Abdul Basit and PML-N district secretary-general Rana Muhammad Anwar termed the decision a victory of lawyers.

KASUR: Members of the local district bar and tax bar raised slogans “Addlia Zindah Baad” and congratulated each other. Bar President Chaudhry Munir Ahmad distributed sweets among the lawyers.
Bars of Kasur, Chunian and Pattoki announced that they would celebrate Youm-i-Tashakur on Saturday (today).
