PESHAWAR, July 10: Provincial Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has called upon doctors to pursue their education dedicatedly and get themselves equipped with the knowledge of modern discoveries in the medical sciences to cope with the emergence of new diseases.
“You should behave politely and give priority to patients’ welfare while dealing with them,” he said this at a seminar organised by the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association to mark Doctors’ Day at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on Tuesday.
LRH Chief Executive Dr Hafizullah, Prof Sirajuddin Ahmed and provincial PIMA President Dr Mohammad Qasim also spoke.
The minister said there was a general complaint about the attitude of doctors which he added was the result of a communication gap between doctors and patients.
He advised doctors to deal the patients keeping in view the level of their intelligence and psychological background and try to win their confidence.
He said medicine was a crucial profession and any negligence in this could lead to the loss of a precious life.
Prof Sirajuddin Ahmed in his address said that ethics was the soul of the medical profession. He asked the doctors to try to protect the medical profession from deterioration.
