Britain to ban TNSM

LONDON, July 3: Britain intends to outlaw the Tehrik Nefaz Shariat-i-Mohammadi (TNSM) and the Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh as terrorist organisations, the British home office said on Tuesday.

The groups will be under an order now before parliament, making it a criminal offence for anyone to belong to or encourage support for them.

Britain accuses the TNSM of providing direct support to Al Qaeda and the Taliban and of an attack against Pakistani soldiers.

It says the Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh has claimed responsibility for fatal bomb attacks across the South Asian country, including a 2005 suicide bombing.—AP
