KARACHI, July 3: The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum on Tuesday released a survey of loss of life and property during the recent torrential rains in the coastal belt of Sindh.
According to the survey, 28,500 people were affected by the rains in 76 villages in Keti Bandar, Kharo Chan, Gabo Pat and Rehri Goth.
In Keti Bandar, Thatta, 15,300 houses were badly affected, four fishermen lost their lives while 150 cattle heads perished. About 100 betel leaf farms were destroyed and 30 poultry farms damaged.
In Kharo Chan, rains affected 12,500 people, damaging their homes and boats and destroying 30 poultry farms.
Similarly, rain rendered 10,000 people shelterless in Gabo Pat union council, killing 50 cattle heads, damaging 25 poultry farms and destroying 60 boats.
More than 6,000 people lost their houses in Rehri Goth in Bin Qasim Town.—APP
