PESHAWAR, June 11: Peshawar District and Sessions Judge Miftauddin Khan on Monday extended till June 18 the interim pre-arrest bail of Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour and his nephew Usman Bilour in the murder case of People’s Party Parliamentarians leader Syed Qamar Abbas and his friend.
The court referred the pre-arrest bail application of the two accused to Additional District and Sessions Judge Gohar Rehman Khan.
On May 30, Additional District and Sessions Judge Syed Zamurad Shah had confirmed the pre-arrest bail of Awami National Party senior vice-president Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, his younger brother MPA Basheer Ahmad Bilour and the latter’s son Haroon Bilour.
Senator Ilyas and Usman Bilour were out of the country at the time.
Their application was earlier fixed before the court of ADSJ Zamurad Shah, who on June 9 referred it back to the district judge, observing that as he had confirmed the bail of the other three applicants, it would not be appropriate for him to hear the plea.
The complainant in the case is Syed Tahir Abbas, brother of the deceased Qamar Abbas, a former provincial minister who had a decades-old enmity with the Bilour family.
The complainant has nominated the three brothers -- Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, a former federal minister; Ilyas Bilour and Bashir Bilour -- and Bashir’s sons Haroon and Usman for killing the PPP leader and his friend Mohammad Ali on May 6 near Hasthnagri railway crossing.
Barrister Zahoorul Haq, Abdul Lateef Afridi, Asadullah Chamkani and Ishtiaq Ibraheem area are representing the Bilour family.
The applicants claimed that there was witness who had seen the attackers.
