PESHAWAR, June 5: The Sarhad Rural Support Programme has completed the survey of 60,000 houses in earthquake-hit areas of the NWFP which will be handed over to their owners before the advent of winter.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the SRSP said about 60 per cent construction work on the houses had been completed. The houses are being constructed in 14 union councils of Battagram and Mansehra districts.

The statement said the houses were being constructed according to guidelines of the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority. The SRSP, it said, in collaboration with foreign donor agencies, had launched relief and reconstruction activities in mountainous parts of the two districts.

It said the organisation had completed hundreds of drinking water supply schemes with participation of local communities.
