ISLAMABAD, May 28: A scuffle broke out at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) between a doctor and a retired army officer over the issue of dumping of construction material around the hostel.

A number of doctors on condition of anonymity said the incident took place when a medical officer asked a contractor, who is a retired major, to remove construction material from around the hostel because it blocked the way.

However, the retired major turned down his request and instead started harassing him which led to the scuffle.

The doctor and the contractor exchanged harsh words which led to a brawl. On seeing them quarrel, the labourers and doctors present there rushed to the scene and separated them.

Margalla police were also called to the hospital to avoid occurrence of any serious brawl. The police reached the spot and handled the situation, however, tension remained in the hostel.

The doctors blamed the hospital administration for the incident.

Several complaints were lodged with the administration about the problems the doctors faced due to the construction material around the hostel, but to no avail.
