NAWABSHAH, May 18: Members of the district bar association (DBA) have accused the DPO of threatening lawyers and destroying the peace of city. They urged the acting chief justice of the Supreme Court, acting chief justice of the Sindh High Court and the PPO of Sindh to take suo motu notice of it.
An emergency meeting of the DBA was held on Friday in the bar room. Ali Mohammed Dahiri presided over the meeting.
Mr Dahiri said that the DPO, Dr Ghulam Sarwar had threatened him and his General Secretary Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar of dire consequences if they didn’t withdraw the proposed FIR against the DPO and other police officials. He had threatened of implicating them in false cases, Dahiri said.
“I’ve come to know through reliable sources that the DPO had registered a case against the DBA members for violation of section 144,” he said.
The DBA had decided to boycott all cases pertaining to police officers. They also condemned police for failing to register an FIR despite the orders of judicial magistrate.
The SHO of A-Section police had registered a NC in which it was stated that he received information on May 12 that an armed group of 30-40 people led by Ali Mohammad Dahiri and Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar were heading towards Karachi for bloodshed.
He further stated that the group got enraged and raised slogans against president, prime minister, Sindh chief minister and governor when they were stopped at Qazi Ahmed Naka for a search. The DPO claimed that though advocates opened fire but police remained unhurt.
The SHO A-Section Police, Ghulam Nabi Kharal had also submitted an application before Judicial Magistrate-I Nawabshah Afzal Roshan along with the NC that the application of Ali Mohammad Dahiri on which orders were also issued for the registration of FIR against the DPO and other police officials was not based on facts. He prayed to Judicial Magistrate to review the orders and withdraw them.
Later, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar told reporters that they would file a writ petition against police and would also bring up the matter in the meeting of Sindh Bar Council to be held in Hyderabad on Sunday.
