Pak-Iran border wall to divide the Baloch, says Kachkol

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, May 13: The construction of a wall at the Pakistan-Iran border is an attempt to divide the Baloch people living on both sides of the border, according to leader of the opposition in the Balochistan Assembly, Kachkol Ali.

Opposing the wall’s construction, he said that the Baloch were already divided because of an unnatural divide. “With the construction of a border wall, the Baloch will be totally cut off from each other,” Mr Ali said.

He said that the wall would also affect border trade through which poor Balochs of Pakistan and Iran earned their livelihood, adding that it would also affect people’s movement on both sides of the border.

He said that he would take up the matter in the coming session of the Balochistan Assembly, adding that he had already submitted a motion in this regard.
