ISLAMABAD, May 9: A bootlegger who recently came out of jail after serving life term for murder allegedly committed the crime again along with five accomplices here on Tuesday night, police said.
Ilyas Masih, who was released from jail after completing life term for murdering a man 15 years ago, intercepted his victim’s relative Qaiser Masih, a resident of a katchi abadi in I-9/1 while he was proceeding to a nearby market.
The accused along with Riaz Masih, Khushi Masih, Dilawar Masih, Shamoot Masih and Andaryas exchanged hot words with the 30-year-old Qaiser and then attacked him with daggers. As a result, he fell on the ground and started bleeding profusely.
In the meantime, his brother Imran Masih, who was present in the market, rushed to his rescue along with some other persons and a brawl ensued in which both the parties used daggers and batons. As a result, Imran, Ilyas and Riaz also suffered injuries.
Shortly after the incident, the Industrial Area police reached the spot and arrested Ilyas and Riaz with the weapon used in the crime.
Qaiser who received two dagger stabs on his chest, one of which piercing through his heart, died on the spot before receiving any medical treatment. The police shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for legal process.
The police said Ilyas and Riaz were also involved in various anti-social activities in the area including bootlegging. The residents of the katchi abadi and surrounding areas had lodged complaints with the police against the accused.
