Preparations in Naukot for Musharraf’s public meeting

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, May 3: The Pakistan Muslim League and its allied parties are busy in trying to make the Saturday’s public meeting of President Pervez Musharraf, a grand success.

To make it a historic event, a huge area near Naukot Fort has been levelled by heavy machinery. The site is being prepared for setting up a big stage.

Government officers too are busy in finalising arrangements for the meeting.

The task to bring public to the meeting is given to office-bearers and workers of the PML and its coalition partners.

According to reliable sources, the administration has decided against setting-up press gallery and issuing special cards to print and electronic media. Administrative officers have decided to keep the people, and print and electronic media people away from the stage.

Sources said President General Pervez Musharraf will arrive at the Sindhri airport along with the members of the Federal Cabinet where Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and provincial ministers will welcome him.

Later, the president will reach the venue of public meeting through helicopter from Sindhri airport. Sources added the president will lay foundation stone of the Thar Cadet College near Naukot Fort which is being completed at a cost of Rs350 million.

He will also inaugurate the lining work of Ran distributary (canal) which is being repaired and lined at a cost of Rs212 million.

It is expected the president will also make important announcement about the Thar coal project.
