KARACHI, May 3: The Director-General Health, Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi, on Thursday presented a report about the present situation of gastroenteritis in the province to Sindh Health Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed.

According to the report, till now 1,125 gastro patients were admitted to various government hospitals in 23 districts of the province, out of them 482 were hospitalised. The report said that a male patient died of gastro in Sukkur.

The minister took serious notice of the rising gastro cases in rural areas and instructed all EDOs health of the province to launch mass awareness drive regarding preventive measures of this disease.

He requested citizens to use only boiled water for drinking purpose.

He said that eatables should be kept properly covered, and overripe and rotten food items should not be used.—PPI
