KARACHI: Sufi music festival begins today

KARACHI, May 2: A five-day ‘International Mystic Music Sufi Festival 2007’ will begin here on Thursday and will continue till May 7. Groups from 14 countries are expected to take part.

Scheduled to take place at the Baradari, located on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, the event is being organised by the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW) in collaboration with the government of Sindh.

The RPTW has previously arranged the festival in Lahore, and this will be the first time the port city will play host to such an event.

According to the press release, Sufi performers from Senegal, Turkey, Syria, Algeria, Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, and Pakistan are due to perform.
