MIRAMSHAH, April 29: A clash between security forces and militants at a checkpoint near Miramshah in North Waziristan Agency on Sunday left one soldier and three assailants dead. A security official said that the Nary Doog checkpoint, about 10 kilometres west of Miramshah, came under attack at about 2am with heavy machine-guns and rockets. One soldier was killed.

Army and paramilitary troops, jointly manning the checkpoint, retaliated by firing artillery shells from the scouts’ fort in Miramshah, killing three militants.
