NEW DELHI, April 29: Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, head of the Muslim Conference, said President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s proposals on Kashmir were a ‘great breakthrough’ towards resolving the Kashmir dispute.
Briefing newsmen after the concluding session of the three-day ‘Intra-Kashmir Heart-to-Heart Talk 2007’ here on Sunday, Sardar Qayyum said the meeting, which was participated by representatives of both sides of Kashmir, would help understand each other’s point of view.
He said there was a consensus that the peace process and dialogue between Pakistan and India should continue unhindered, enabling both countries to reach some common grounds to resolve the Kashmir issue.
He said the meeting was a successful effort, adding that more such meetings were needed.
He said people-to-people contact across the Line of Control could build up the confidence of the Kashmiris. The meeting discussed various proposals, which would soon be made public.—APP
