KASUR, April 29: A girl and two men lost their lives on Sunday while another girl was seriously injured in `honour-related’ incidents.
Reports said Muhammad Salim suspected that his twin sisters — Shakeela and Nabeela (16) — were having relations, while their father Muhammad Ishaq thought they were innocent.
On early Sunday morning, Salim attacked his father and sisters with an axe, injuring them seriously.
Ishaq and Shakeela died on their way to the hospital, while Nabeela was referred to the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, in a critical condition.
Changa Manga police have arrested the accused and recovered the axe.
In the other incident, Ali Azam shot at his sister Faiza Bibi who wanted to remarry. Faiza was critically injured and referred to a hospital in Lahore, while the accused later shot himself and died on the spot.
Their family did not approach police.
Encounter: Mustafaabad police on Sunday killed the ringleader of a dacoits’ gang in an encounter near Paki Haveli.
Kasur DPO Tarique Abbas Qureshi told reporters that on Saturday night, ringleader Farooq alias Farooqi and his accomplices Nasir Mayo and Roshan Din had snatched a Pajero on Lahore-Kasur Road near Paki Haveli.
Receiving information, a police party, led by SP (investigation) Syed Ali Mohsin, chased the gangsters. Seeing police on their hunt, outlaws opened fire on law enforcers which was returned.
As a result, ringleader Farooq sustained serious bullet wounds who later died at hospital. Raids were on for the arrest of remaining two outlaws, who managed their escape from the scene.
The SP said that accused Farooq was wanted in nine cases of heinous crimes, including murder, dacoity and extortion.
He said outlaw Farooq had killed watchman Sher Zaman on resistance during a dacoity on Sadar Devan Road on April 21. On April 23, he had also shot dead Shahzad Ahmed and injured councillor Saeed Bhatti due to bad blood at Khara village, he said.
