KHAIRPUR, April 29: The President of PPP Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has said that leaders who deserted the PPP during difficult times were ready to apologise and rejoin the party and had made a beeline for it.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating PPP city office at Punj Hatti here on Saturday night, Mr Shah said that PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and party leadership had decided not to allow the deserters back into the party due to tremendous pressure of the committed workers.

Mr Shah claimed that General Musharraf had been told by his advisors during general elections of 2002 that Ms Bhutto was out of the country, therefore, her party would be defeated in the elections but PPP got more votes than all the political parties including PML-Q.

He said that the government collected Rs40 million by selling employments applications to youths promising jobs to them in the education department who still await a response from the government.

He said that Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was the most inefficient and unpopular chief minister in the history of Sindh and added that he was even unpopular within his ruling coalition and comments of Pir Pagaro were sufficient to reflect Arbab’s position.

He said PPP’s struggle aimed at restoration of rights of provinces, supremacy of judiciary and constitution.

He said that PPP played a significant role in anti-Kalabagh dam struggle and other controversial projects.

Commenting on the attack on Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao in Charsada, he said it proved failure and unpopularity of the present government.
